Testimonials

Your words..for experience at our workshop:

“My 6-year-old- Neel and I went on a sojourn to the wooded “Vanvadi” after my hospital admissions for fatal asthma. We were keen on learning natural dyeing and got lucky when we met Namrata there. She is a wood fairy. Truly, she is. She knows everything about everything that’s natural and organic and flowing. Not only did we learn so much with her, but I went on to do her residential workshop in Goa. I regularly use the methods that I learned from her and I have expanded to use natural dyes in my bath bombs and soaps as well. All 100% natural with essential oils. These are safe for asthmatics like me.”

It was a very good experience to learn about nature and the standardized herbal dyeing process from Namrata of ColorAshram. The way she taught was very simple and really beautiful. I really enjoyed it thoroughly and look forward to the second and third levels. I learned quite a lot (even though I have been learning natural dyeing for a long time before from different places

Teacher at Waldorf School and trainer for teacher training

“On visiting Goa, I undertook a teacher training certificate in natural dying, where I learned how to treat the fabric during the dyeing process with more care and respect, for more even results. The course gave me a great depth and appreciation for our environment. I gained a better understanding of the need for a more sustainable approach to my discipline in fashion design, recycling, and textile design. We learned to print block and many different simple methods of tie-dye, giving beautiful results, taking me back to a more basic and innocent time that felt far less competitive and complicated than mainstream fashion, giving me a relaxed time at the color ashram, learning a slow fashion art form principle, needed today in a lifestyle I enjoy less and less.

I live part-time on a bird and nature reserve and am currently finishing the build and renovation of my workshop, where reclaimed materials have been used where possible, as lockdown has given us unexpected problems, making reclaimed products more difficult to obtain. I have been studying and taking classes in eco-printing so I can teach in the workshop when things return to some kind of normality. I also upcycle/ recycle for a variation of fashion, accessories, and household items using innovative textiles and prints including the use of natural dyeing techniques from my immediate environment. I will be experimenting further with the beautiful dyes I purchased from my course at the color ashram and have a developed a few techniques of my own, I’m keen to teach in the future.”
